Living and Ageing Well in Hepburn

A pioneering project enhancing the lives of older people

Clunes Neighbourhood House (CNH), Attitude – Ageing Well in Clunes, and Central Highlands Rural Health (CHRH) have joined forces to work with and assist older people to live active and full lives in their community.

We are focused on enhancing the lives of people aged 50 and over, and 45 years or older for First Nations people.

Launched in June 2023, our initial focus is in Clunes, with plans to extend to Daylesford, Trentham and Creswick.

Living our best lives is different for everyone and it changes as we get older.

Friends, community, activities, services and support play a significant role in helping us live fully at home.

What we offer

Working with the community, we provide a range of programs aimed at improving people’s lives, fostering connections and supporting healthy habits.

Attitude. Ageing Well in Clunes offers a range of social, cultural, creative and physical activities led by the community every day of the week in Clunes at minimal or no cost. The program runs in an all-abilities venue with access to transport to get to and from activities available if needed. The Attitude program is designed with 60+ people in mind, but all ages are welcome. Attitude publishes a quarterly What’s on in Clunes guide that also includes activities of other local groups and clubs, and these may have a broader focus.

This project is designed to promote social engagement, civic participation and overall health and wellbeing.

In addition to a regular program of activities to enrich people’s lives, Living and Ageing Well in Hepburn also includes:

• Easy access to volunteer opportunities to get more involved in community life

• One-to-one and group support to get the best use of technology

• One-to-one and group support to navigate government services like My Aged Care and NDIS

• Free Wi-Fi at Clunes Neighbourhood House and Attitude

• Easy access to allied health outreach activities in the community

• Warm referral to health services to support chronic condition management

Combined, these opportunities make Clunes a ‘healthy ageing hub’. Future plans include establishing similar, emerging hubs in Daylesford, Trentham and Creswick to extend our reach and enhance the lives of many more within our region.

We are united in using our resources and expertise to foster a supportive environment in our community, and recognise that together, we can have greater impact. Our goal is to ensure that the positive changes we make today endure and enhance lives well into the future.
